STUDIO POLICIES
Lessons
Over the course of the quarter, students will receive 12 lesson units. These units may be a combination of private lessons and classes.
Tuition Payment
Tuition is invoiced quarterly. Payment can be made one of two ways: 1) Paid in full by the 24th of the month prior to the start of the quarter; or 2) Paid in three equal installments due on the 24th of the of month prior; i.e. for Fall Quarter: September tuition is due August 24th, October tuition is due September 24th, and November tuition is due October 24th. We allow a grace period to the 5th of the month. Payments received after the 5th of the month are charged a late fee of $15.00. The MAC Faculty will only provide lessons to students whose accounts are in good standing.
For convenience, you may choose to have quarterly or monthly payments automatically charged to a credit card on the 15th of the month prior.
Cancellation Policy
The Musical Arts Center allows each student ONE make-up lesson per quarter for an excused absence. (An excused absence requires 24 hours notice prior to the absence). Instructors are not required to make up more than one missed lesson.
*SAME DAY CANCELLATIONS AND NO-SHOWS DO NOT RECEIVE A MAKE-UP.*
The make-up lesson will occur on a quarterly basis, and at a time designated by the teacher. If the student is unable to make-up the lesson in studio time, the value of said lesson is to be reclaimed in class time. Instructors are required to make up any lesson cancelled due to instructor’s illness, or unavoidable conflict.
If the Center, Branch or Satellite location is forced to close for severe weather conditions, the first missed lesson per school year will not be required to be made up.* Any additional closures due to weather will be made up in class time (see the Special Events Calendar). For closing information, check local channels 5, 9, or 12, our Facebook page, or here on our website.
*Same day cancellations, no shows and the 1st missed lesson due to severe weather conditions are not eligible for tuition refunds. However, the value of said lesson can be reclaimed in class time. Your first excused absence per quarter is eligible for a make-up lesson only, and any additional excused absences are eligible for make up only through class time. No refunds will be given for missed lessons.
Termination Policy
IF LESSONS ARE BEING DISCONTINUED FOR ANY REASON, WE REQUIRE A 30 DAY NOTICE IN WRITING IN THE OFFICE. Notice can be given to a teacher, but must also be given to the office. You will be billed for lessons up to 30 days after notification of termination. This includes lessons given at area schools - lessons do not automatically end with the end of the school year. If we are unable to teach on location through the summer, lessons will continue at the main location in O'Bryonville.
Leave of Absence
In the event of a family vacation or any other event that would cause a student to miss several consecutive classes, you may elect to take a Leave of Absence. WE REQUIRE 30 DAYS NOTICE. Notice can be given to a teacher, but must also be given to the office. Please note that YOUR ACCOUNT WILL CONTINUE TO BE BILLED after the specified date of return.
Change of Status
If there is ANY change in lesson length or frequency (not including make-ups), you MUST give the office 30-day notice in writing. It is not the teacher's responsibility to notify us. You will be responsible for any amount incurred due to delayed notification.
Refund Policy
There is a $24 non-refundable registration fee paid annually, in the fall, for each student (this fee is prorated for students registering in the winter, spring or summer quarters). Tuition is refunded ONLY in cases of extended illness or injury and with a physician’s written statement addressed to the Musical Arts Center.
