The Musical Arts Center is a year-round performing arts academy with students of all ages and abilities. Our year is divided into four quarters of twelve weeks each. Within each quarter students receive 12 lesson units consisting of either; 1) 11 private lessons and 1 class (master, performance, technique or recital) per quarter; 2) 10 private lessons and 2 classes per quarter; or 3) 12 private lessons per quarter, depending on teacher schedule. Students are automatically enrolled quarter to quarter and encouraged to continue study year-round. A 30 day notice must be given to the office if a student is discontinuing lessons for any reason.

MAC Quarterly Schedule

Fall: September – November

Winter: December – February

Spring: March – May

Summer: June – August

To enhance private study, students are encouraged to participate in additional classes beyond the 1-2 included in tuition. Students are welcome to attend classes taught by studio teachers other than their own. All additional classes are free of charge to MAC students, and family members are invited to attend as well for no additional charge. The calendar of classes and registration can be found on our website, musartscenter.com, under special events. The list of classes can also be found on the back of each teacher’s quarterly calendar (these can be picked up at MAC office).

  • Master Class: These classes may include lectures and/or study of all aspects of playing or singing, including technique, performance and preparation.

  • Technique Class: These classes focus on a particular aspect of technique, giving examples and sometimes referring to hand-outs. Group activities may be included, as well as the option for students to perform and work through a piece with the teacher (an accompanist is not necessarily present).

  • Performance Class: These classes are coachings with the teacher and an accompanist and may include a short lecture. The focus is on performance related issues, such as presenting oneself in front of an audience. It gives students a chance to become comfortable performing and watch how others work.

  • Recital: These performance opportunities are also a tremendous learning experience for students. Recitals may be considered a cumulative or culminating experience to demonstrate concepts students have learned during their course of study. Recitals are presented in a positive and friendly atmosphere so that students can learn from the experience and continue their growth as a musician.

To get started with lessons, register online and a MAC representative will call to schedule a lesson time according to availability.
