Alex Foley is the Drum Set and Percussion instructor at the Musical Arts Center. He graduated from Walnut Hills High School and is currently working toward his degree in Percussion Education at College Conservatory of Music at the University of Cincinnati. Alex has been teaching students since he was only 14 and he has always been passionate about spreading his knowledge of music. He was captain of the Walnut Hills Drum Line which, during his senior year, placed second at the regional competition with their highest scores ever. Alex leads a successful band called The Black Ties from behind the drum set. They recently opened for Jordin Sparks and are active participants in the ever growing Cincinnati music scene. Alex works with students ages 7 and up on many Drum Set styles including jazz, rock, and funk. He also instructs on all instruments in the classical percussion world and is best known for his mallet work.
