Jeremy Cotton

Master Guitar / Bass Guitar / Sax / Clarinet Teacher

Jeremy M. Cotton was born into a musical family in Cincinnati, Ohio. Music training began at an early age with piano and clarinet, and Jeremy continued music lessons until he graduated from Walnut Hills High School in 1991. Throughout these years, Jeremy also dabbled with several different instruments, although his primary focus was on Marching, Concert, and Symphonic bands playing saxophone.

He attended The University of Akron from 1991 until 1996, where he completed a Bachelor of Fine Arts: Major in Music degree. During his time in Akron, he changed his primary instrument from saxophone to guitar and began playing guitar and bass guitar professionally. Jeremy began gaining valuable experience in jazz, blues, rock, pop/wedding and reggae bands during this time. He also had the privilege of studying guitar and saxophone with some of the finest teachers in the area, including Bob Fraser, Dean Newton, and Rich Shanklin. In addition, Jeremy began taking on guitar and bass students at this time.

After completing his degree at The University of Akron, Jeremy relocated to Bowling Green State University to begin working on a Master of Music Education degree. He continued to work as both a professional musician and teacher, and had the benefit of working with Chris Buzzelli, and Russ Schmidt. In 1998, Jeremy completed his coursework at Bowling Green State University; contacts made during that time led to playing bass guitar full time in one of the several show bands at Cedar Point, and eventually to a faculty position at the Dallas School of Music in Dallas Texas.

Currently, Jeremy is an instructor at the Musical Arts Center and adjunct faculty for Cincinnati Bible College. He also performs in various venues and with various bands and artists in the Greater Cincinnati area.
