  -- B.F.A. Boston University

A former MAC student herself, Emma joined our staff in the fall of 2009. A graduate of Boston University's Theatre Arts program, where she received her BFA in 2007, Emma has been teaching acting, drama, and creative writing for five years - beginning as a TA at BU, then teaching privately in Boston, New York City, Martha's Vineyard, and in Dublin, Ireland. She continues to perform in multiple venues, including theatre, stage combat, performance art, and film.

Emma teaches acting from a physical perspective, encouraging her students to develop and understand a character's physical and habitual identity before approaching the psychological. She feels that it is important for the actor to know the ins and outs of a character before deciding how they might react to any specific event, such as those that arise in a play, monologue, etc.

Emma is also a published poet and has extensive experience as a lyricist. Short stories, a play, and a work-in-progress novel are also part of her repertoire.
