Mateo Husted

Voice Teacher

Mateo Husted, Tenor, has been studying voice in the Cincinnati area for two years, and has actively been performing in roles as Ferrando in Così Fan Tutte, Alfred in Die Fledermaus, and Governor in Candid.  Other roles performed and studied include Gheraldo in Gianni Schicchi, Don Ottatvio in Don Giovanni, Tamino in Die Zaberflöte, Jaquino in Fidelio, Belmonte in Die Entführung aus dem Serail, Nemorino in L’elisir d’amore, and Malcolm in Macbeth.  His musical endeavors have taken him to Austria with the American Institute of Musical Studies where he performed in the operetta and German lieder program. While in Austria, he studied with teachers Everet McCorvey, founder of the American Spiritual Group, and distinguished soprano Andrea Huber. 

 

In past summers, Mateo participated in the vocal pedagogy summer course at the Oberlin Conservatory of Music, studying and working with renown vocal teacher and pedagogue, Richard Miller.  Mateo earned a Bachelors in Music from the University of Nevada Las Vegas were he studied with Alfonse Anderson and Carol Kimball, author of the book Song: a Guide to Art Song Style and Literature.  He is currently finishing his Masters in Music from Miami University, where he taught private voice for the past two years, sang various solos with the Miami University Chamber Singers, and studied voice with Benjamin Smolder and Audrey Luna.
