Voice Teacher
Riki Dewar, Soprano, Voice Instructor/Specialist: Students with Special Needs, has been with the MAC since 2003. Mrs. Dewar received her Bachelor of Music cum laude in Voice Performance from Eastern Kentucky University, and then went on to a Master of Music at the University of North Texas in Vocal Performance and Opera and related field in music medicine (emphasis: mild to moderate disabilities). She is currently pursuing a second master degree in special education with an inclusion specialist certificate at the University of Michigan.
Already an experienced educator, Mrs. Dewar served as Voice Coordinator and Instructor for Griffin Middle School, Adjunct Voice Instructor at Texas Woman’s University, a Voice Teaching Fellow at the University of North Texas, and as Chair of the Voice Department at Belvoir Terrace Fine Arts Camp. Also at the University of North Texas, Mrs. Dewar held the position of Vocal Coach and Music Director for the Department of Dance and Theatre Arts productions.
Mrs. Dewar’s solo experience includes The Merry Widow, die Fledermaus, Ruddigore, The Crucible, …And Out the Other Side, The Sound of Music, Into the Woods, A Little Night Music, Dido and Aeneas, The Impresario, The Music Man, Beethoven’s Mass in C, Mozart’s Missa Brevis and Regina Coeli,
Monteverdi’s Laetatus sum, Purcell’s Come Ye Sons of Art, Pergolesi’s Magnificat, Schubert’s Mass in G, Rutter’s Requiem and Gloria, and Telemann’s Meine Seele erhebt.
